The 2024 Ohio State Championship was decided where these things usually are, on the back course, on a wind that turned by mid-morning, and on the kind of pressure that empties an inexperienced shooter's focus by station five. Hershberger and Alshlash were not the only names with a shot at the title on Sunday, but they were the two who held their lines as the field around them slipped.

The course at the host club had been refreshed since the previous year, with two new stations on the long course that drew the most chatter at the lunch break. One was a true rabbit through a notch in a treeline, the kind of presentation that punishes any shooter who flinches off the gun. The other was a left-to-right transitional pair that broke the easy rhythm of the morning.
